   My paintings employ a reactive method in the search for an elusive notion that has perplexed me for many years. The images, symbols, and compositions, which stem from personal, social, political realities, are often a foil to assist in the realization of feelings generated by those notions. I am included in Who's Who in American Art, studied on a Group Studies Fulbright Grant in Costa Rica, Central America, received the 1993 Visual Art Award of the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters, and an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Mississippi Arts Commission.

Paul G. Oxborough is known for his use of light and his bravura brushwork, Paul has the distinction of being named a "Living Master" by the Art Renewal Center, Most recently he was invited by the British National Portrait Gallery to paint portraits for the “Mystery Portrait Postcard” exhibition in 2014 & 2009.

 

World travels, including recent trips to Japan, Botswana and Zambia, provide inspiration for Paul's works, allowing him to paint a subject matter seemingly unlimited and varied, from intimate interiors illuminated by candlelight, to outdoor scenes, drenched in sunlight.
